The ministry of women and human rights is responsible for policy direction; implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development programs; in the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women; enhancing the capacities of the vulnerable; and promotion and protection of human rights in the State. For lasting peace and social cohesion women peace and protection project intends to promote women’s meaningful participation in peace building processes with emphasis on decision making and leadership. Also create legislation, capacity and infrastructure for gender-responsive peace building initiatives in the society.
Climate change induced conflict for pastures, water and livestock are common in Galmudug and reduce the incidence the project was designed. One component of the project intends women in target communities capacity is enhanced to address conflict and increase their resilience to climate change
Female Genital Mutilation is a gross violation of human rights and causes trauma and health complications for the girls and women who have undergone the ritual. The ministry prioritizes the formulation of the FGM Act and policy to strengthen the legal framework to support in the eradication of the vice from the State.
The project intends to provide an enabling environment for the protection of children’s rights and provision of holistic services to GBV survivors in Dhusamareeb and Guriceel districts of Galmudug.
